Whoo Hoo for Prop 13. I would never attack Prop 13 for a couple of reasons. First, we put Prop 13 into place because our elected representatives could not control their spending. How many years have passed and the idiots in Sacramento, the cities, and the counties still can't manage the budget.

It's easy. "Stop spending a**hole."

San Francisco is a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants. Santa Clare County treats illegal immigrants at no cost at the Valley Medical Center if they go into emergency and can't pay.

Basically, the elected officials have too much money to play with if they can take care of law-breaking, border-jumping, lazy to learn English, illegal immigrants!

So why in heck's name would we want to kill Prop 13 so that our inept legislators can continue to support other nation's folks? Charity begins at home; the legislators better take care of our elderly, sick, veterans, police, firemen, and teachers before they crap out another dime to illegal immigrants!

Second, why be envious of those getting a sweet deal? If teachers make $75,000 and police officers $100,000 and you make $50,000, are you squawking about the difference? Stop the compare and contrast and let their taxes alone. The worst thing you can do is to let the legislators have more money.

You should be focusing on the fact that voters were swindled into thinking they are punishing the legislators with no pay raise if they don't pass a budget. The voters should be demanding salary rollbacks to 1990 levels. I suggest 30% or more pay CUTS for all city, county and state legislators.

I suggest we tear apart personal and public spending records of all elected representatives in the city, county, and state to highlight the spendthrifts that got us into this mess. Because if we don't recall or throw these bums out of office, we will NEVER get the budget in line.

I voted NO on Props 1A-1E because I want the city, county, and state to REDUCE spending. DO NOT RAISE TAXES OR TOUCH PROP 13! It’s time to ensure the state legislators and the pipe dwarfs that feed them, i.e., cities and counties, that they understand, “stop raising taxes and stop spending.”

I hear you. It could use some tweaks. I wouldn't want it repealed though. How about keeping the 1% cap but increasing the step up basis to 4% a year when your tax basis is below 75% of assessed value. 2% otherwise. Try to eliminate the business loop hole when businesses change hands and step up the basis when the house is left to heirs.

Just for the record. You wrote a thoughtful article about an important topic - fairness. Thank You.
Ignore the morons.
