Why my mom and I don’t communicate well
A conversation with a friend of mine reminded me of this conversation between me and my mom:
Mom: Son I’m cooking fish tonight. Do you like fish?
Me: No mom. I hate fish.
Mom: I got this salmon from the market, very fresh. I’ll make some tonite.
Me: I said i HATE fish. I’ve hated fish since childhood.
Mom: Ok…. so, salmon or tilapia?
Me: I said NO FISH.
Mom: But salmon is better than fish.
Me: Huh? Salmon IS fish.
Mom: That’s nice.
< 10 minutes later at dinner table >
Me: Mom, there’s fish in my soup.
Mom: Yes, you said you wanted salmon.
I love my mom.
